Fleet Technician
California Patrol Operations is a private security company that currently holds many contracts from property management to business owners, to public contracts. We are rapidly growing and are seeking to hire a fleet manager to oversee and manage our growing number of fleet vehicles.
NATURE OF WORK:
The Technician is responsible for advanced equipment installation procedures on public safety vehicles of all types. They need to be able to work independently, as well as part of a team. The objective of a Technician is to perform high-quality work within the allotted time for build or task assigned by their supervisor.
Main schedule will be Monday through Friday from 9:00am to 5:00pm. Must be able to work nights, weekends and possibly holidays as per needed or per emergency basis. Pay rate will mainly depend on experience and will be discussed during the interview.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:
- Develops and implements performance objectives to achieve more efficient use of time, staff, and available resources; estimates the total cost of labor and materials required to monitor effectiveness of performance objectives.
- Maintains computerized records of preventive maintenance schedules, maintenance repair work performed. Creates and modifies computer files using standard spreadsheet or database technology.
- Orders necessary parts and equipment; maintains appropriate records and prepares reports concerning the overall operation of the service garage; prepares initial budget requests and monitors budget expenditures.
- Develops and implements a preventive maintenance program to reduce the total number of repairs; determines services to be contracted out to reduce time and costs. Performs any related work as required.
NECESSARY QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
- Thorough knowledge of the various types of equipment and facilities necessary for maintaining and repairing a fleet of vehicles. Thorough knowledge of the construction, assembly, maintenance, and repair of automotive equipment.
- Ability to maintain computerized records of repairs, time and parts utilized in the repair and maintenance of fleet vehicles and to use this information to project future trends, vehicle replacement cycles and vehicle costs.
- Ability to create, maintain and modify computer spreadsheets, utilizing macro features to automate operation.
- Ability to prepare cost estimates of labor and materials required for repair of fleet vehicles.
- Ability to lift to 60 lbs. properly and safely.
- Ability to make basic electrical connections properly and safely within a vehicle.
- Ability to properly and safely loom and route all wire to minimize installation related failures.
